So this is Christmas

And what have you done?

Probably what everyone else has done yes? Eaten your bodyweight (and more) in Turkey, Christmas pudding, chocolate and mince pies...

Sounds like it's time for a change, but my question to you is are you changing for January or changing for good?

January is a time for detoxing and joining a gym - I'm going to be honest with you, if you are likely to go to the gym once or twice and then not go again... Don't bother- not only will you be wasting your own time (and money) you'll also be taking up gym equipment from regular gym users.

For the gym to work in your lifestyle you need to make time for it. Don't start off January by hitting the gym 10 times a week as you will be unable to maintain that sort of commitment. Start off with one day a week and make sure you can manage with that and develop it into your lifestyle. Personally being such a fitness junkie I train at the gym 4 times a week. To be able to do this I get up at 5.30 every morning to be in the gym for 6.30. It is a choice that I make so I have time for those that matter in life in the evenings (and also rugby training).

What I am basically trying to say is, enjoy Christmas we have all earnt a little over indulgence (for a week or so). But come January make small changes that you will be able to comfortably live with. Then once you can manage the change, change something else or add another session. Slow progress is still progress.

You will have that beach body by the summer, just remember it is a marathon not a sprint!

Enjoy the festive period and see you in the gym in January!
